What’s Up: Popular M/M author Josh Lanyon follows up 2007’s The Dark Horse with recent release The White Knight, starring the same heroes.
Sharrow reviewed and enjoyed both. She enjoyed the growth of the characters between books one and two, the humor, as well as sex scenes that took her “a bit by surprise”, in a good way.
Elisa Rolle’s review of The Dark Horse is brief, and shows some reservations over the choice to start the story with our heroes already living together. Her review of The White Knight mentions that for her, it filled a hole left by the first book, in terms of the development of the relationship between the heroes and their reasons for being together. It wasn’t what she expected, but she calls the love story in this one “full, developed, and nicely tightened up.”
Booksky, a self confessed “unabashed Josh Lanyon fan” reviews both novellas here, and mentions, like Elisa, that she doesn’t mind the thinner mystery plot in the latter because she enjoys the increased focus on the relationship between the heroes.
